Selecting and implementing assistive technology requires a systematic decision-making process to determine a match between the student’s abilities and the features of a device.
The selection of devices or equipment should never be based on the recommendations of a single team member.
Team members will change over time.
The student/family will remain a constant.
The Family: The parents or primary caregivers have the most knowledge about the student’s everyday life, preferences, and means to deal with his/her disability.
They may be able to provide insight on the daily routine and schedule for the student during the school day.
