    Tuesday, January 12, 1999

    Jack Loveless Conference Room
    4 – 6 pm

    In attendance:
Dan LaFica (Teacher Center), Christine Bailey (Bloomfield), Mark MacNeil (Canandaigua), Laura Reeves (Phelps-Clifton Springs), Randy Lawrence (Red Creek)

Major Concern: Still getting low attendance

Issue #1:  Science Teacher Data base

Most of the meeting consisted of a brainstorming session where we designed an Excel Worksheet to be distributed to all area middle and high schools. In the worksheet, we will be asking each district to fill in science teacher data:
District, Building, School phone, name, email – and then to mark off each science course currently being taught by each 6 – 12 teacher in the district.

Disks and letters will be distributed to RIC members at the Jan 22 meeting with a request that the RIC members take the disks back to their districts and have the information filled in and returned to the Science Network Committee.

    Issue #2:  Science Software Project

It was suggested that the members of the science network begin to compile a list of good science software. This could be done by teachers providing critiques of science software that they are familiar with – and by the network procuring suggested science software that could be tried out and then critiqued by science network members. This item will be discussed further at the next meeting.
