    erm Exams

The holidays are left behind quickly as we approach the end of the first semester. For the 10th and 11th graders, this is business as usual. For the
seniors, it is the beginning of their last semester of High School. For some, this is frightening. For some, it is a time of sadness as they see
confusion and indecision ahead. Others recognize sadly that these are the best days for them and that their dreams may fadehopefully
to be replaced by others as they grow to adulthood. For many, they are
ready to be done with high school and eager to move on to the next chapter
m their lives. This is healthy and the students in this group seem to squeeze
the most from every opportunity to be with friends and create more
    memories.
For the freshmen, however, it is an introduction to the scheduling around midterm
and final exams. The midterm exams they will face at the end of January will be
their first exposure to the rigor of a 3hour test. We purposely create the same testing
atmosphere for January that they will encounter in June. The Regents exams are all
3hour tests and are the basis of what we do here.
During the next few weeks teachers will discuss the material on which I
students will be tested and what types of activities to expect on the exam

itself. The exam will be schedule for Tuesday Wednesday and January 23, 24 and 25. There are also
Regents exams scheduled during this time for those students who need to retake an exam from last June.
Students who have a Regents and a local exam scheduled at the same time will take the Regents exam first
    .
If your son or daughter is in this situation, please remind him or her of this point.
ALL STUDENTS WILL NEED TO BE IN SCHOOL EACH OF THE MORNINGS EXAMS ARE SCHEDULED.
    They will be
excused at midday if there is no afternoon exam for them to take.
Students will be given a schedule for the exams at school.
