Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful summer! I think you’ll find this Bulletin filled with useful information. Please be aware of deadlines (SAT/ACT are listed respectively) as many are quickly approaching.  
Lyons High School Code is 332950 (you’ll need this for SAT/ACT registration).
Review books are available in the Student Counseling and Guidance Office along with registration packets.

SAT Subject Tests    If you’re applying to very competitive schools, e.g., Cornell, Colgate, you may need to take SAT Subject Tests in addition to the SAT Reasoning Tests. Since the requirements vary widely from school to school, check with me.

Earn college credit while still in high school!
Many of you are participating in the Finger Lakes Community College Gemini Program at Lyons High School. This dual-credit program provides qualified students with an opportunity to enroll in select college courses to earn college credit or gain advance standing. FLCC Gemini Representatives will be at Lyons High School to register students for the Fall 2007 semester on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 from 8:15 a.m. through 9:00 a.m. in the H.S. Library. For more information about the Gemini Program visit the FLCC website at www.flcc.edu and click on Programs for High School Students. Tuition assistance for Gemini may be available to students demonstrating financial need. See me A.S.A.P. if you think you might qualify.

SUNY College night Rochester area :Tuesday September 18th at Monroe Community College from 6:00-8:30 p.m. Syracuse area: Wednesday, September 19th 6:00-8:30 P.M. at the Onondaga Community College.
Register online at www.suny.edu/studentevents or by calling 1-800-342-3811. I also have post cards available in the SG&GO that can be used to register for either of these events.
 
Rochester Area Colleges (RAC) will visit Lyons H.S. on Friday 9/21 at 11:15-12:00 a.m. in the H.S. library. Nine area colleges will be represented; admissions personnel will be available with applications, view books & a lot of information about their colleges & programs. Please plan to participate!
 
Finger Lakes Regional College Fair: Monday October 1st, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Robert A. Bristol Field House at Hobart & William Smith Colleges, Geneva: "Meet with admissions representatives from more than 80 Institutions.”

SENIOR AUDIT/SENIOR PORTFOLIO


Your Senior Audit is a process of reviewing your records to ensure that you meet graduation requirements. I’ll be calling you in within the next few weeks to complete your Senior Audit. As we complete your Senior Audit, we will carry out a first review of your portfolio. Remember, your completed portfolio is a requirement for graduation!

Plan on Playing Sports in College?


You may need to register with NCAA Clearinghouse. All athletes participating at Division 1 and Division 2 levels must be registered. See Mr. Veeder or me with questions.
 
Please remember to:  
1. Register for SAT or ACT, pick up review books  
2. Turn in your Activity Sheet  
3. Stop in for your Senior Audit/Senior Portfolio  
4. Register with the NCAA (Divisions 1 & 2)  
5. Continue with college search and planning; use FastWeb ( www.fastweb.com ) or the “Choices/Bridges” program, both available on line!
