Presentation of Research

You’re working hard and becoming the resident expert on your topic. Now is your chance to share that hard-learned knowledge with the rest of the class. Choose an option below and prepare a presentation to the class on your research topic. EVERYONE should refer to chapter 30 in your textbook for organizational and presentational tips, no matter which option you choose. This presentation is 40% of your third term grade.

Option: The Speech. This is a formal address before the class. You’ve seen it thousands of times over the years…it is sometimes called The Lecture. Choose among notecard, outline or full manuscript presentation. Include at least one visual.

Option: The Multi-media Presentation. Use various media to assist you in presenting your information. PowerPoint, YouTube movies, Podcasts, music…the possibilities are limited only by your choices. While this option has many opportunities for visuals, you must also speak before the class to share your information. Most probably you will use either the notecard or outline notes.

Option: The Webpage. This is one only for the tech-savvy among you who feel very comfortable creating pages to be shared online. Your information could be in blog form or as a regular site (sorry, you’ll have to find your own server space if you choose this option, unless you simply create it and do not upload it anywhere. Which seems a bit of a waste. Unless you just want the experience of creating it). If you choose this option, you will present it to the class via the InFocus projector and Mrs. D’s laptop. If the site is live, no problem. If the site is in file form, you must have it on a flash drive (also called a ‘thumb drive’) so the file can be transferred to her laptop. Again, you will probably use either the notecard or outline system for your notes.
