Using notes that you already have or checking books in the library, write a brief set of answers to the following questions. You should consult at least three books from any one author; authors are listed after the questions here. (Check the copyright dates so that you can examine the books in sequence.)

Things to look for:

1. How do the illustrations support the text? Are they stronger, weaker, is there a sameness to the illustrations from book to book?
2. What about the themes? Do they change over time or remain basically the same?
3. What about the characters? Do they evolve or remain static from book to book?
4. Are all of the books of the same quality? Why might a book of lesser quality have been accepted by a publisher?
