English 9 (Block 9.01, meeting days ACD; 9.02, meeting ABD; 9.03, meeting BDE; 9.04, meeting BCE)
 
 

Daily: review Global voc. (abbot, abdicate, absolutism, acid rain, the Acropolis, The Age of Enlightenment, imperialism, alloy, alluvial soil. ancestor worship, assimilation, autonomy, autocratic, balance of power, baptism, barter. biodiversity, bureaucracy. Next Week: caliph [leader who is Muhammed’s successor as leader of Islam (also calif, khalifa], capital [sums of money, economic assets measured as money].
 

This week: test on words to bureaucracy: 9.01 on C day; 9.21 on B day; 9.03 on B day; 9.04 on C day.
 
Students continue work on “The Pigman Project.” First journal section and first essay is due by March 24.
 
And students continue work through Prep for Regents, pp. 41-81, explaining to each other what the sections teach; doing the oral exercises. [This will take several weeks.] Use the ex on 41 for listening: students take notes, then compare their idea of main idea to the model on 43.

Write essay: “Writing Assignment,” 194, “Consider a short story. . . .” I suggest that you use “First Confession.” You must provide at least six (6) quotations or examples from throughout the story in your essay.
