The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Vice President Paice.

B. MINUTES:

Regular Meeting – January 19, 2005
:
A motion was made by Mr. Osterhaudt, seconded by Mrs. Hicks, to approve the minutes
of the Regular Meeting of January 19, 2005.
Carried unanimously.

D. UNFINISHED BUSINESS AND REPORTS
:
1.
Presentation: Wilson Summer Reading
:

Middle School teachers, N. Taddeo, A. Cramer, and S. Syrup, shared information
concerning the summer school reading clinic that happened in the summer of 2004.
Twelve students began the program and nine students successfully completed the
sixweek program.
2.
Report: Reading First Assessment Update
:
C. Keeling and M. Smith presented an update on the Reading First Grant
involving our elementary school. Mrs. Smith shared a website that she is
developing to help parents understand what is happening in reading at Cuyler and
what is important for good reading skills. Mrs. Keeling shared information
concerning the assessments that are part of Reading First and how well our
students are doing on the assessments, as well as how the assessments are used as
teaching and learning tools. Red Creek students are generally performing well in
the Reading First program.
3. Revised Policy No. 7131: NonResident Students:
Upon recommendation by the Superintendent, a motion was made by Mr.
Osterhaudt, seconded by Mrs. Hicks;
That the Board of Education of the Red Creek Central School District hereby
approves Revised Policy No. 7131, “NonResident Students,” dated 2005.
Carried unanimously.

Resignation: Cleaner, Tammy L. Stevens; Appointment: School Bus Monitor,

JeanPierre Roberts; Appointment: Substitute Teacher Assistant, Sub. Teacher Aide,
and Sub. School Monitor, Shannon M. Burnett and Elizabeth A. Johns:
Upon the recommendation by the Superintendent, a motion was made by Mrs.
Hicks, seconded by Mr. Osterhaudt;
That the Board of Education of the Red Creek Central School District hereby
accepts the resignation of Tammy L. Stevens from the fulltime position of Cleaner
effective retroactively to January 11,2005; and
That the Board of Education of the Red Creek Central School District hereby
appoints Shirley M. Jones to the position of School Bus Monitor (Handicapped run),
approximately five and threequarters hours per day, 187 days per year, effective
February 7, 2005. Appointment will be made annually by the Board of Education
and is on a temporary basis for the duration of the particular pupil’s stay in the
district or as specified in the particular pupil’s IEP; and
That the Board of Education of the Red Creek Central School District hereby
appoints JeanPierre Roberts to the positions of Substitute Bus Driver, Substitute
Grounds and Substitute School Bus Monitor effective February 3, 2005. Said

Substitute Bus Driver appointment is contingent upon Mr. Roberts obtaining his
Class B Commercial Drivers License with a Passenger Endorsement, passing his
preemployment drug test and physical performance test, and satisfactorily
maintaining Regulation 19A of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles;
and
That the Board of Education of the Red Creek Central School District hereby
appoints Shannon M. Burnett as a Substitute Teacher Assistant, Substitute Teacher
Aide and Substitute School Monitor. Said appointments are effective February 3,
2005. Said appointments are considered emergency conditional pending clearance
from the New York State Education Department; and
That the Board of Education of the Red Creek Central School District hereby
appoints Elizabeth A. Johns as a Substitute Teacher Assistant, Substitute Teacher
Aide and Substitute School Monitor. Said appointments are effective February 3,
2005. Said appointments are considered emergency conditional pending clearance
from the New York State Education Department.

:
A motion was made by Mr. Osterhaudt, seconded by Miss Martin, to approve the

Carried unanimously.
4.
Approval: Board Policy Manual
:
Upon recommendation by the Superintendent, a motion was made by Mrs. Dates,
seconded by Mrs. Hicks;
That the Board of Education of the Red Creek Central School District hereby adopts
the revised Board of Education Policy Manual effective February 3, 2005 and
further directs the Superintendent of Schools to arrange with Erie 1 BOCES to edit
and print said manual.
Carried unanimously.
5.

Upon recommendation by the Superintendent, a motion was made by Mr.
Osterhaudt, seconded by Mrs. Dates;

EXECUTIVE SESSION:
A motion was made by Mr. Osterhaudt, seconded by Miss Martin, to enter into Executive
Session at 8:03 p.m. to discuss personnel issues and negotiations.
Carried unanimously.
Without objection from any Board member, Vice President Paice moved the Board out of
Executive Session at 8:54 p.m.
H. ADJOURNMENT:
A motion was made by Mr. Osterhaudt, seconded by Mrs. Dates, to adjourn the meeting
at 8:55 p.m.
