English 9 (Block 9.01, meeting days ACD; 9.02, meeting ABD; 9.03, meeting BDE; 9.04, meeting BCE)
 
 

Daily: review Global voc. (abbot, abdicate, absolutism, acid rain, the Acropolis, The Age of Enlightenment, imperialism, alloy, alluvial soil.ancestor worship, assimilation, autonomy ,autocratic, balance of power, baptism, barter) Add biodiversity (millions of plant and animal species living in balance in their environment) and bureaucracy (a corps of administrators, clerks, and other officials who carry out laws, policies, and programs of government or businesses).
 

 
Day 1: fill out Literary Elements form for Romeo and Juliet. All essays are due.
 
Through week: use class time to read and respond to literary elements in “The Scarlet Ibis,” looking at theme (especially love/caring/ego), characterization/motivation, plot: was the ending predictable?
 
At end, take test, start essay: tackle the question of who it is that the narrator loves; then defend your answer. (We may prepare for this with a debate.)
