References Sheet for Proper Citations in Formal Writing and Web design– APA Format
Use this format if you are citing a source from a book:
Author’s Name. (date of publication). Title of book. City: Publisher.
Use this format if you are citing a source from a Magazine or Journal:
Author, A. A., Author, B. B., & Author, C. C. (date of publication–or n.d. if no date). Title of article. Title of periodical, volume#, page #s. Retrieved month day, year, from source.
Use this format if you are citing a source from software:
Author, A. A. Title of article. (date of publication). In Title of media [CD-ROM]. City: Publisher.
Use this format if you are citing a source from a personal web page
:
Author, A. A. (date of posting). Title of work. Retrieved month day, year, from organization name Web site: URL
Use these two formats if you are citing a source from an organizational web page:
Organization name [no author]. (date of publication). Title of work. Retrieved month day, year, from URL
Title of work [no author or organization]. (date of publication). Retrieved month day, year, from URL
Please note: Do exactly what you see! Where there are indentations-indent. Where something is italicized-italicize. Where something is enclosed in parentheses-use parentheses. There is no need to number your sources, however, they need to be in alphabetical order according to the author’s last name.
