Outline:
 
Each student will select a unique, active plate tectonic region to research and present before the class. Each region needs to be approved by the teacher & each project will consist of the following parts:
 
1.  Research Content (40 pts): Once each student has chosen a location, they must research their location for geographic, demographic, pronunciations, and scientific information.
 
2.  Major Event Paper (20 pts): They must also find a major event in history related to their event and outline that event in a 1-page paper, written in their own words. Include date & time, what happened, results of the event (damage, global effects, etc.), & answer the questions, “Why did it happen?” and “Can/will it happen again?”.
 
3.  Poster or Model (100 pts): Each student must draw a poster or create a model of their location, showing topographic details & plate tectonic features underground. They must also include facts about their location. If doing a poster, it needs to be: colorful, neatly done, accurate, original, and creative.
 
4.  Presentation (40 pts): Each student will give a 3-5 minute presentation on their location. Things to be included in the presentation are:
