1. What changes took place in American Foreign Policy between 1850 and 1914?

Packet Directions:
 
This packet is divided into two parts. Lesson One examines the changes in Foreign Policy, Lesson Two explores World War I. Lesson One will be an Independent Lesson and is explained below. Lesson Two will be done in our normal class process.
 


Independent Lesson Directions:



Independent Lesson Directions:
 
1. Each Social Scientist will be introduced to the lesson. A deadline will also be given for completion of the lesson. This will be the quiz date.
2. Each Social Scientist will be given the Lesson Study Guides and Part A.
3. Students will begin work on each part of the lesson. They must be done in order, with each Part being successfully completed before moving on.
4. Each class will consist of the follow process.
 a. attendance/announcements/tool kits/ papers returned
 b. introduction/ general lesson (5 to 10 minutes)
 c. individual work sessions
 d. wrap up (final two minutes)
5. Students will assign themselves homework based upon the work they need to get done. It will NOT be checked in class.
6. All parts must be done before the quiz date. All students MUST take the quiz regardless of whether they have finished the work. Students not passing the quiz or having a passing average for the packet will be required to attend extra after school sessions at the end of the lesson.
7. Students who fall behind or are not able to work independently may have to return to a small group setting with the teacher.
8. Each Part will receive a grade. In addition, the Study Guides (timeline, chart, data sheet) will also be graded.
9. Students who finish early may do extra credit work in preparation for the quiz.
10. Students are expected to do their own work.
