Regional Scoring FAQ’s
1) What tests will be regionally scored this year?
4th grade ELA in January
8th grade ELA in June
- I thought 4th & 8th grade Math exams were supposed to be regionally scored this year. What happened?
These exams are tentative scheduled to be regionally scored in 2000.
3) When are the scoring dates?
The 4th grade ELA will be scored on January 27, 28, & 29, 1999.
The 8th grade ELA is has not been scheduled yet.
4) Where will the scoring take place?
The Inn on the Lake in Canandaigua has been reserved for the January session. At this point, decisions have not been made regarding the June session.
- How did you determine how many scorers and table facilitators needed for each district?
We determined the total number of scorers needed and multiplied it by the districts’ share (RWDA) to come up with the number required for each district. The same process was followed for table facilitators.
- How much training will scorers and table facilitators need to attend?
All scorers and table facilitators will need to attend a one-day training session prior to scoring day. The purposes of this training are:
- to create a more informed rating process and scorers
- to understand the language of the rubric
- to practice scoring sample responses
- to know the demands of the test
On scoring day, the scorers and table facilitators will be trained on the specific rubric being used to score the exam.
- When and where will scoring training take place? Is there a cost for the training?
The workshops will be held from 8:30 – 3:30 and the cost is $35.00 per participant. The dates for the 4th & 8th grade ELA training is as follows:
4th Grade
November 2, 3, 9, 10, 12 or 13
Sunrise Hill Inn
8th Grade
February 1, 2, 3, 4; March 4 or 5
DiPacifics
Note: Participants need only attend one day of training.
