The fireworks begin today. Each diploma is a lighted match, each one of you is a fuse. - - Ed Koch

Greetings from Wayne Central School District. Below are some items of interest.

Board Agenda:

1. Architect’s Report – Our architects and our construction manager will be here to give an update on where we are with our building project. This will be the major portion of our Board meeting. This will be a good time to ask any questions about progress, cost etc. If you have a question you would like them to do some research on feel free to send it to me ahead of time. We had a question at our last Board meeting regarding the cost of relocating the light poles to the softball or baseball field. It is estimated to be $25,000 - $30,000 plus the cost of running electrical out to the field.

2. Salaries for Confidential/Non-Represented Employees: Salaries for confidential employees are set by the Board of Education each year. These employees are not represented or protected by unions. We have traditionally given these people salary adjustments similar to the union employees. We will be acting on this at this meeting. The attached letter was sent to you earlier. Please call me if you have any questions or concerns.

3. Board Retreat: On July 8 the Board and Administration will be meeting from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Lodge at Casey Park. We will be setting our goals for next year. I hope the 4:00 to 8:00 time frame makes it easier for people.

4. Math A and Physics Results: The math A and Physics regents result have been disastrous across New York State. We had 52 students take the physics exam with only 24 passing. Math A was given in January and June. For the two combined we had 248 take the test with 134 passing. This June we had 100 take the test with 15 passing. We are pressing the State to do something about this but we are not getting much of a positive result.
