Dear Parents:
I am writing to address several issues in light of the conflict in Iraq. Governor Pataki has placed the state on a level “Orange” alert. This means several changes will be taking place at our centers in Batavia, Mt. Morris and Leicester. First, all doors except the front door will be locked during the school day. We will be asking all visitors to our schools to enter through the front doors and sign in. School personnel will also be conducting “hold and secure drills” in all of our centers over the course of the next few days.
In the event that events dictate the closing of one or all of our centers, please listen to the usual media outlets for information rather than calling the school directly.
Finally, please be assured that our staff, and the employees in your local districts, are very well versed in emergency procedures and planning. Fire drills, emergency weather drills, early dismissal and closings due to inclement weather have prepared all of us to be in full compliance with the requirements of New York State’s SAVE legislation. While you may be inconvenienced in the next few weeks, please remember that everything we do is to ensure the health and safety of your children and our staff.
Do not hesitate to contact me, or your child’s BOCES center principal, if you have any questions or concerns. Your cooperation and assistance is appreciated.
Sincerely,
Michael Glover
