“If the ladder is not leaning against the right wall, every step we take just gets us to the wrong place faster.”                        - Stephen Covey

Greetings from Wayne Central School District. Below are some items of interest.

Newsletter:

1. Wayne Varsity Teams: The Wayne Varsity Wrestling Team won the Section V Class B team championship this past Saturday. We had 5 individual Section V Champions as well. They were: Josh Patterson, Nate Patterson, Mike Patterson, Luke Baum, and AJ Haak. Seven other wrestlers qualified for Super Sectionals. We will be sending 12 kids to state qualifiers next Friday and Saturday at Brockport High School. Megan & Jason both finished strong on a very challenging course at Whiteface Mountain this past Monday and Tuesday. One Varsity Bowler, Jason Zirgulus qualified for states also. He will be competing this Friday and Saturday in Long Island. Section V school in our area generally charters one bus and makes combined arrangements for hotels, travel, meals etc. and divides the costs proportionately amongst the participating districts.

2. Ginna/Eagle Ventures : We are now at a code yellow alert. The mother sent the boy to Eagle Ventures, although because of his behavior, we may have to change his placement.

3. Budget - Thank you for your support with our budget struggle. You were right when you said we are in this together and together we will get through it. We have some preliminary ordering of potential cuts completed. Right now the estimated tax rate is 12.80%. Our current level I cuts total .5%. Our total level II cuts total 1.5%. That brings us down to 10.8% tax increase. The additional $289,000 would come from level III which will undoubtedly affect staff, We will need to be informing those staff members of possible layoffs by mid-march. I will have the complete packet of possible cuts to you by our next Board meeting.
