“Next in importance to freedom and justice is popular education, without which neither freedom nor justice can be permanently maintained.” - - James A.Garfield, July 12, 1880

Greetings from Wayne Central School District. Below are some items of interest.

Board Meeting:

1. Sons of American Legion: We will try this again ( the last two attempts have been effected by the snow days!). The Sons of American Legion will be presenting us with a new flag and flag stand for use in the high school performing arts center. High school custodian Don Peets will be one of the presenters.

2. Building Project Update: The architects will give a brief update on the building project progress.

Newsletter:

1. Spain Trip – We have been receiving information from Lory Morrin on how things are going with the trip. All is well. One student had to return from Philadelphia because she lost her passport. Holly Young flew back with her. I do not believe they were able to rejoin the group as hoped. Most students have been able to call home and keep in touch with their families as well.

2. Ski Team State Qualifiers – Two of our high school ski team members, brother and sister Brian and Megan Thayer, have made it to states for slalom and giant slalom ski racing. They will be competing at Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid next week.

3. Dr. Marinelli Visit - Dr. Marinelli will be making visits to the local school Board of Educations by attending a Board Meeting. He will be visiting Wayne on April 9. I will give you more information on the specifics of his visit in the next couple of weeks.

4. Rotary Dictionaries – The Ontario-Walworth Rotary purchased dictionaries for students at both Freewill and Ontario Elementary (3rd graders). Freewill students received theirs last week at their awards day and Ontario Elementary students will receive theirs this coming Friday at the Smile Day Assembly (9:25 a.m.)
