PRIOR MEETING MINUTES: Minutes of March 12, 2002 were filed as presented.

NEW BUSINESS:

Progress Report – Code of Conduct Committee: Mr. Blankenberg, director of athletics and physical education, provided a progress report on the efforts of the code of conduct committee in review of the portions of §5300 that relate to student eligibility and conduct for interscholastic and extra-curricular activities. They are also consulting with the staff committee now studying the revised Commissioner’s Regulations on student attendance in classes. Note was made that Mrs. Lyke is serving as trustee liaison to the attendance regulation review committee.

Annual Review – Existing Policy §5000: Committee members completed the annual review started at prior committee meeting of existing policy handbook §5000 and determined that no revisions are need unless the code of conduct or attendance committees have recommendations for revisions.

Annual Review – Existing Policy §4000: Committee members completed the annual review of existing policy handbook §4000 and noted necessary revisions. Committee agreed to present these revisions for first reading @ the April 10^th Board of Education meeting: Mr. Switzer to prepare.

Annual Review – Existing Policy §3000: Committee members completed the annual review of existing policy handbook §3000 and determined that no revisions are necessary.

Annual One-Third Review Completed: Review of these three sections completes the committee’s current year effort to review three (3) sections each school year.

Progress Report – Erie #1 BOCES Policy Update Service: Mr. Triou noted communications with Mrs. Hans re: final draft copies of reviews completed to date by the committee. Mr. Switzer is completing edit of existing policy to proposed items for continuity.

c)	I will be discussing a recent BOCES offer regarding the continuation of the lease of elementary level classrooms only. The defeat of the BOCES Building Proposition in Sodus, the Phelps-Clifton Springs rental/purchase offer for a vacant school that did not come to pass, and finally the decline of further consideration with Marion Central has brought an offer back to Wayne. We meet with BOCES on Monday to review their ideas for the program.
d)	We will need to decide on a date for a summer full day work session involving the board and the district administrative council members. This session will focus on reviewing our mission/philosophy and developing goals for 2002-03.
e)	An opportunity for student questions will be provided.

a)	There will be personnel and CSE actions provided for your approval.
b)	I will be presenting the Wayne Central 2002-2003 proposed budget for your final review and adoption. Attached to the board agenda is the final draft of what will be voted on. Please do not hesitate to call me if there is anything you wish to discuss or need further clarification on.
c)	Consensus Agenda – We will need to vote on a BOCES Bid for maintenance cleaning supplies; health contracts with West Irondequoit, Canandaigua and Gates-Chili school districts; a gift to the district; a resolution to finalize the agreement with Coca-Cola Bottling. This ten year agreement will go into effect on July 1, 2002 and will end June 30, 2012; and, we will also need to vote on the resolutions to reduce our staff force as determined by our 2002-2003 adopted budget.
d)	There are several policy and regulation first readings for your review and comment.

a) Wayne Middle School Principal, Mr. Armocida and middle school reading teachers will provide an update on the Middle School Reading Program. This intense reading program is for general education students reading below grade level.
b) Assistant Superintendent for Business, Greg Atseff will provide an update from the Facilities Committee, which met this week.
