A. Units of Study:



A. Units of Study:
 
The Introduction to Occupations program covers the following four (4) units of study. We will spend approximately five (5) weeks on each unit.
 
 1. Economics
 2. Working Citizen
 3. Wise Consumer
 4. Personal Finance

 1. Homework / Classwork
 2. Quizzes / Exams
 3. Group Instruction and Discussion
 3. Projects
 
 a. Weekly Articles - Students will submit one news article each week, along with a written summary, dealing with economic or job related issues. The source of the article may be the newspaper, magazine or on-line.
 
 b. Introduction to Occupations – THE GAME: Students will work in teams to design, test and create a that can be effectively used in an I/O class to review information from all four units of study.
 
 c. Other: Our longer class period might give us time to do new activities during class.

Students will be graded in the following manner:
 
 Quarterly Grades -  a. Classwork / homework  25%
   b. Quizzes / Tests  25%
   c. Projects / Weekly Article Summaries  25%
   d. Class Participation & Cooperation  25%
 
    NOTE : Factors affecting the Class Participation Grade are:
 
   1. Active participation in class
   2. Classroom job.
   3. (-3pts)  Class Lateness
   4. (-10pts)  Class Cut
   5. (-3pts)  Unprepared for class session (notebook, papers, pen/pencil)
   
 Final Grade -  Average of 10wk, 20wk, and State Proficiency Exam.
