    7:30 P.M. – High School Auditorium
    Ticket price is $5.00
Directed by Paul Liedmen, the comedy
    Hook, Line
    and Sink Her
is led by an interesting cast of
    characters. A pushy mother
    (
    Amber Marie
    Payne
    ), a nervous father (
    Jamal Abdunnasir
    ), a
    whiny bride (
    Serenity Carlyle
    ), a younger brother
too busy eating to ever say a word (
    Ethan Rehor
    ),
and countless other smalltown characters make
this one of the most hilarious weddings you’ll ever
    attend. Gilbert (
    Mike Vanderbilt
    ), the “young local
store owner and operator,” proposed to Tina right in
front of a display of Wheat Wedgies while looking
for weevils that Janet’s best friend Gertrude
    Starnes (
    Marnie Baxter
    ), the town gossip, insists
she saw. A pregnant bridesmaid (
    Laura Seeley
    )
goes into labor at the wedding, Gertrude urges Matt
    (
    Mike Rehor
) the local sheriff to arrest Gilbert for
murdering his father while the other bridesmaid,
    overlyfriendly Alice (
    Whitney Verbridge
    ), admits
the man actually died on a “visit” to her house.
Meanwhile, the smart, rich, and lessattractive
    cousin Louise
    (
    Angela Prodrick
    ) kindles a
    relationship with the attractive, not
    sosmart Wally
    (
    Brandon Correa
    ) the sheriff’s s
    on. Two overly
    ambitious boxboys (
    Stuart Stevenson
    and
    Joe
    Pray
    ) and drunken minister (
    Chris Stevenson
    )
keep the action and laughs flying fast.

    FROM THE PRINCIPAL…Daniel Starr, Ed.D.

    At the November 14
    th
meeting of the Board of Education
there was a lengthy discussion regarding the book
    Life’s
    Greatest Lessons
, by Dr. Hal Urban. I am excited to offer
this book as a supplemental text in the English curriculum
because of the lessons it teaches, as well as the way it
    teaches them.
There are 20 chapters about life itself, how it works and
what Dr. Urban considers essential. Schools have been
criticized for decades for not teaching this. The heart of the
book is all about being a good
    person. It has quotes throughout
from a variety of people, some
    famous, others more obscure.
The mission of our school district is
to prepare students for the next
    phase in their lives (college,
    military, work, trade school, etc.).
Life’s Greatest Lessons can help us
    with this task.
I am extending an invitation to all of
    you to
contact me if you want to
read this book or even to discuss it
and then decide if it is appropriate
    for your child(ren).
    I will be
    availab
    le Tuesday, December 11,
at 7:00 p.m., in the High School
    auditorium
    , for anyone who wants
to learn more about this book.
Posted on our website is a list of the
chapters, my comment on the gist of
each chapter, and a sample of a
quote from each. You can access it
    at
    www.williamsoncentral.org via
    the internet, then click on
    Life’s
    Greatest Lessons.

    The Williamson Chapter of the
    National Honor Society (NHS)
    will
induct 22 new members on Tuesday,
    December 4,
    at 1:30 p.m., in the
    auditorium.
    NHS is a national organization
founded in the first decade of the
    20
    th
century. It is devoted to the ideals of academic
achievement, character, leadership, and service to the
community. Membership is an honor for those selected
and determined by a student’s accomplishments in each of
    these areas.
Every school determines the criteria for membership
within each of these four standards, based on the
guidelines provided by the national organization
handbook. Seniors and juniors with an overall grade point
average of 85 or better are invited to submit an information
packet for review. The students provide evidence of their
achievements in the four areas. A group of 5 faculty
members then review the information submitted and
consider it in light of the four standards—academic
    achievement, character, leadership, and service.
In the week preceding the induction, our 21 existing
members of NHS organize the induction ceremony and
invite the parents of the students selected to the ceremony.
Some students are disappointed when they are not chosen.
They are invited to speak with Mr.
    Monsees, the Chapter Advisor, to
    review the four critical areas
    considered. The grade point average
is not enough by itself to be invited
to join. In a hypothetical example, a
student who has a 94 average, but
    who has demonstrated poor
character or no involvement in any
type of service to the community or
school most likely will not be
    accepted for membership.
We are appreciative of the effort that
    Mr. Monsees devotes to the
    organization of the invitations and
    the induction ceremony. He works
with a faculty committee for the
review of the invitations and then
    helps the students organize the
    induction ceremony and prepare
    their speeches.

    HOLIDAY CONCERT

    (Park and ride service available)

    The annual
    Holiday Concert
    is
    scheduled for
    7:00 p.m.,
    on
    Monday,

    December 17
    th,
    in our
    auditorium. Performances are free
to the public and all are welcome to
attend. Those of you who are veteran
    attendees of these musical events
    know that
    our parking lot is often
    filled to capacity, and then
    overflows down the driveway
    towards Route 21.
    With this in
    mind,
the district will provide a parkandride service
from both the Middle and Elementary Schools.
    Here’s
    how it will work:
    Park
at either the Middle or Elementary School.
At 6:30 p.m., a bus will pick you up so you can
    ride
    to
the High School for the concert.
Following the concert, the bus will return you to the
    school where you parked.

    . It is good to
know how great our students are to give unselfishly during
    this holiday season.
    Thank you especially to Veronica
    Weber,
    who served as our chairperson.
    We collected a
total of 54 pints from 60 donors
, which was way over our
expected goal of 35 pints. Veronica did a wonderful job
with organizing this drive, and I would personally like to
commend her on an outstanding j
ob!!! I want to pass on
the positive comments by the Red Cross about our
students. They were very impressed with their behavior
and attitudes. I am proud of them, as I am sure you are.
