Dear Parent:

As you know our country was presented with great tragedy yesterday. In response the
Williamson Middle School took the following steps:

All exterior doors were locked and monitored. This step is traditionally called a
lockdown the p urpose of which is to ensure that no strangers enter the building and that
    all students are accounted for.

Today we set up a “crisis room” where students could go and talk to a trained counselor
and have a bottle of water.

We observed a minute of silence at the beginning of the day.

Our goal is to present a “business as usual” atmosphere while at the same time provide
the emotional support that the students may need. Our schools will remain open and
parents are encouraged to send their children to sch
ool. If any events occur that would
necessitate the closing of schools you will be notified by way of television and radio
    broadcasts.

In closing I would like to commend the students, parents and staff for pulling together
    and helping one another through
such a trying ordeal. While our thoughts are certainly
with our fellow Americans, we have not allowed the actions of others to interfere with the
    business of learning.

    Sincerely,
