Professional Development Online Courses – “Learning Café”
Kelli Eckdahl and Amy Perry-DelCorvo presented on the “Learning Café”
The National Educational Technology Plan released last month states that every student and teacher should participate in at least one on-line course.
Currently we offer 37 courses.
In 2002-03 WFL BOCES had a glitch in their calendar in regards to the third professional conference day. The only options available to fit the day into the calendar year was the day before December break, day before February break, a day in the middle of August, or the day after the students leave on June 25.
It was decided to give the staff a choice of attending June 25 or take a six-week online course.
Six Week Online Courses:
Choose from 14 different courses
Set schedule offered 5 different start dates throughout the school year
Set list of requirements for completion by a course rubric
All have guidance of administration
Do training on-site after school
Year 1 - 49% of staff participated; Year 3 - 72 % of staff participating
Completion rate staying steady at 85%

Update on EduTech Customer Survey Action Plan
Survey action plan accomplishments and goals from this committee were closely related. Camille shared a handout with the progress we have made. Over the next 6-10 months we are going to review what we have accomplished with the action plan and the goals of the steering committee. See where there are gaps and where work needs to be focused on a little bit more. Resurvey the districts later this year/early 2006 and see where we still have not reached the level where the districts would like us to be at. We also need to make sure we communicate with all the stakeholders to make them fully aware of the items we have implemented.
