Daily: review Global and Earth Science voc. (abbot, abdicate, absolutism, acid rain, the Acropolis, The Age of Enlightenment, imperialism, alloy, alluvial soil. ancestor worship, assimilation, autonomy, autocratic, balance of power, baptism, barter, biodiversity, bureaucracy, caliph, capital, absorption  and aerobic bacteria and anaerobic bacteria).
 
 
Each Day:
Day 1: class pulls The Pigman together, providing oral answers to major questions and topics in the Pigman packet. In addition, students relate characterization and motivation to real people (avoid naming them): do the students know someone like John, Lorraine, The Bore, John’s mother, Lorraine’s mother, Mr. Pignati? Students also examine other literary elements: symbolism (why is the pig room so important, for example; what about the zoo?)
 
Day 2: students take vocabulary test on items 1-23. Return to Preparing for the Regents, 113, Activity O, 123-130, 131-123 (in handout).
 
Day 3: students write essay in class in response to Preparing for the Regents, 140 (in handout)

Tragic Drama (1380-1381):
 
Hamlet (1568-1681): view Gibson version, with side glances at Olivier version. Use text to trace mythic, psychological, sociological, feminist, etc. angles, as well as to see standard literary elements.
Write essay: limiting yourself to one or two characters, answer 1681, “General Questions,” #4 (You must provide at least six (6) quotations or examples from throughout the play in your essay.).

English 12 (meeting days BCE)
Journalism Unit
1. General editor coordinates assignments, manages deadlines.
2. Students assist each other in writing and editing.
3. Students turn in their time sheets for the week by the end of the week.

ELA Lab.09 (meeting day B)
Students catch up or work ahead of English class. Students may work on other subjects, with teacher leading them into using ELA skills. Mario Verillo works from workbooks on teacher’s desk.
