At the beginning of the August 14
    th
Board of Education Meeting members shared some of their
latest activities. Bill Herbert spoke of his trip to the University of Western Michigan. Gretchen
Craft had attended a Strategic Planning Meeting, Adam Vitalone had chaired the recent Finance
Committee Meeting and President Jordan spoke of his work with the Town Park Committee.

Under the consent agenda the Board approved substitute teachers and appointed Leslie Wing as a
teacher aide and Tom Hughes as a full time bus driver.

A large group of CSE Case Summaries were approved and the Board discussed the
improvements being made to the High School Technology Room in the present capital project.
Improvements will be made including the demolition of a wall, so that the lab will be equipped
    with combination computer/drafting tables.

Under new business, the resignation of David Fitch as Middle School Math Teacher was
approved. The following appointments were also approved:

Christie Graves – Grade 1 Teacher

    Kate Helmbold – 3
    rd
    Grade Teacher

Michael Mack – Middle School Technology Teacher
Lynn Harhay – High School English

Ellen Saxby – Elementary School Enrichment Teacher/Coordinator
May McCarthy – High School Spanish Teacher
Martha Schillaci – High School Special Education Teacher

The Board discussed and then approved increasing the School Lunch price from $1.00 to $1.25.
The increase was the first one since the 199798 school year and still keeps Williamson’s school
lunch prices the second lowest in the County. The Board approved amending the budget to
reflect the recent refinancing of building loans prompted by changes in New York State law.
Also approved was the tax rate for 200203. The rate increase will be the same as predicted
during the budget hearings this Spring – 6.29%. For Williamson residents that translates to a rate
of $22.36 per thousand of assessed value.
