At the September 25

th

Board of Education Meeting, Board members reported on

various activities they had attended over the last two weeks. Soccer games, High

School visits and the Curriculum Council meeting were among some of those activities.

 

The High School Planning Team reported on their action plans for the upcoming

year. One plan deals with the improvement of AIS services and the second with

increasing the

reading levels of students. The Building Principals all reported on

opening activities in their individual Buildings. The Elementary School’s opening

assembly focused on the topic “Don’t Belittle the Little Things.” The Middle School

reported on new teachers and the decrease in Restricted Work Room visits this Fall.

The High School report also focused on new staff as well as the upcoming awarding of

Old English

W

’s.

 

Under Old Business, the Board discussed their sub­committee membership.

They also defeated the appointments of Building Special Education Coordinators after a

lengthy debate.

 

New Business included the appointment of Janann Phillips as Middle School

Nurse. After an explanation of the newly passed State law on automatic defibrillators

by the Superintendent, the Board approved a first reading of a policy dealing with their

use.
