The Outsiders
 

Task Purpose/Focus: Answer the question: why are people judged by their appearances?
 
 
Role:  You are a journalist for the Tulsa, Oklahoma newspaper, The Greater Tulsa Reporter, and you are creating a speech that will be presented at various high schools throughout the Tulsa area. Your speech will focus on the societal tendency to judge others by their appearances.

And:    Analyze the significance of appearance as a cause of conflict between Greasers and Socs.

In order to:  Compose a speech for the Tulsa Central School District in which you include information about the negative effects of judging others based on appearance. Illustrate the typical appearances of Greasers and Socs. Provide a map of the Tulsa area and identify Greaser and Soc neighborhoods.
 
 
 


Disseminate



Disseminate

And then:  Present speeches to various schools in the Tulsa Central School District in which you speak about the societal problems that occur as a result of judging others by their appearances as evidenced by the experiences of Greasers and Socs in The Outsiders.
