4th Grade Music

1.   Read music from staff using treble clef.
2.   Demonstrate easy rhythms using quarter notes, half notes and whole notes by following rhythmic notation.
3.   Identify instrument families of the orchestra.
4.   Demonstrate proficiency of notation(#1 and #2 above) on Orff instruments
 

5th Grade Music

1.   Read music from staff using treble and bass clef
2.   Demonstrate easy rhythms using quarter, half, whole and eighth notes by following rhythmic notation.
3.   Listen to and identify different instruments of the orchestra.
4.   Demonstrate proficiency of notation (#1 and #2 above) on Orff instruments and through singing.
 

6th Grade Music

1.   Define and utilize expanded music vocabulary and Italian terminology.
2.   Develop an understanding of history of the major composers.
3.   Identify musical time periods
4.   Continue to develop proficiency of notation on Orff instruments and through singing (adding dotted eight notes, dotted quarter notes, and dotted half notes to the repetoire.
 

4th, 5th and 6th Grade Chorus

1.   Perform in various musical performances using correct posture, facial expressions, and vocal technique
2.   Identify the notes of a scale by using hand signals
3.   Sing back the notes of a scale using hand signals focusing on stepwise motion.
 

7th and 8th Grade Chorus

1.   Perform in various musical performances using correct posture, facial expressions, breathing technique, vocal technique, musical phrasing and dynamics.
2.   Sing back notes of a scale using hand signals focusing on stepwise motion, 3rds, and octaves.
3.   Identify vocal mechanisms and techniques for singing.
 

7th and 8th Grade Voice Class

1.   Identify time signatures
2.   Identify key signatures
3.   Sing a song in English in front of the voice class to develop confidence and strong performance techniques.
 
 

9th-12th Grade Chorus

1.   Perform in various musical performances using correct posture, facial expressions, breathing technique, vocal technique, musical phrasing and dynamics.
2.   Sing back notes of a scale using hand signals focusing on all intervals from 2nds through octaves.
 

9th –12 Grade Voice Class

1.   Sight-sing musical excerpts using scalar motion.
2.   Sing a song in Italian, German, Latin or French in front of the voice class to develop confidence, diction, and strong performance techniques.
