TRANSPORTATION FOR NON-PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS
TRANSPORTATION FOR NON-PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS
Transportation services provided to public school students shall be offered equally to all resident nonpublic school children. Transportation requests for students attending nonpublic schools should be received by the Transportation Office no later than the April 1st preceding the beginning of the next school year. If a student moves into the district later than April 1st, the request must be received within 30 days of establishing residence in the district.
All late requests, however, shall be considered by the Board of Education on the basis of each case’s merits. Criteria used by the Board in judging whether to accept a late request may include but not be limited to the following:
1. whether transportation will require an additional cost, and, if so,
2. the reasonableness of the excuse for the late request.
Distances to nonpublic schools will be observed in accordance with legal limits unless otherwise authorized by voter approval. Distance to the nonpublic school shall be measured by the nearest available route from home to school, from the intersection of the public street and the driveway of the student’s home to the nonpublic school location.
