Teacher aides and assistants are employed by the district to assist in the classroom.
Teacher aides are appointed by the Board of Education to assist teachers in such non-teaching duties as managing records, materials, and equipment and attending to the physical needs of children. They may also supervise students and perform other such services when such services are supervised by teachers. Teacher aides have no certification requirements.
The Board may appoint teaching assistants to provide, under the supervision of a licensed or certified teacher, direct instructional services to students. Teaching assistants must possess either a temporary license or a continuing certificate.
