For those students who cannot fully benefit from the regular school program, the district offers an alternative school program staffed by skilled personnel either locally or through BOCES.
The building principal will be responsible for recommending to the Superintendent of Schools students who, in the principal’s judgment, would benefit from the learning experiences offered in the alternative program. Students may also be recommended for the program based on their conduct; however, no student will be assigned to the alternative school program as punishment for a disciplinary infraction.
Students may be placed in the program only upon approval by the Superintendent. No student identified as having a disability or suspected of having one will be placed pursuant to this policy in the alternative school program.
