District support staff who are volunteer fire personnel shall report to fire duty when called. However, a bus driver, while driving, shall not abandon his/her school bus to respond to a fire call. An operation and maintenance staff member alone in a district building or serving at a district function will also not answer a fire call.
Personnel who do respond shall be expected to return to their normal district work shift within a reasonable amount of time after discharging their volunteer fire duties. Upon returning from the fire call, time left and returned must be reported to their immediate supervisor. When this is not possible, staff members must report their absence to the switchboard operator.
Persons responding to fire calls shall suffer no reduction in wages.
