| Abstract: | - New York State Learning Standards The New York State Learning Standards in English language arts are as follows: Standard 1: Language for Information and Understanding Students will listen, speak, read, and write for information and understanding.
- Students in New York State are assessed on their progress toward mastery of these standards (particularly the first three) on the elementary English language arts assessment at grade 4, the intermediate English language arts assessment at grade 8, and the English language arts Regents examination at grade 11. As Is Elementary School (K-4) All Elementary School classroom teachers have worked to insure that the written curriculum is the taught curriculum.
